The most probable explanation, offered with the door left open. The radiologist is telling you which way the evidence points without claiming certainty.
Where you’ll see this
Impressions, often followed by an alternative introduced with "although" or "less likely".
Your report may word it “Most likely represents”, “Favoured to represent” or “Probably represents”. These mean the same thing.
Questions worth asking your doctor
- Does this wording mean you are unsure, or that you are reasonably confident and being careful?
- If something cannot be ruled out from this scan, what would rule it out?
- Is there anything here you would act on today?
